Dave Eekhoff is a third generation Presbyterian Pastor; born in Omaha, Nebraska, Graduated from Sterling College, Sterling, KS in 1965. He received his theological training at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL, graduating in 1968. His first call was to be a Mobile Minister to Garfield County in Eastern Montana. He was ordained by Yellowstone Presbytery, June 1968, in Jordan, Montana. In 1972, he became pastor of the United Presbyterian Church in Lemoore, California, where he served for 15 years. In 1977-78, he exchanged pulpits with a Presbyterian Pastor from Auckland, New Zealand. That exchange year he led the congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in the borough of Mt. Roskill.
In 1986, he received a M.A. in marriage and family counseling from California State University, Fresno. He resigned his position of pastor to help establish the Lemoore Family Counseling Center with four other professional colleagues. He maintained a private practice for ten years, until relocating to the Pacific Northwest. Moving to Port Townsend, WA, he was employed by the Department of Defense and worked in the Family Advocacy Program for over ten years. He was Chief of Clinical Services at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Oak Harbor, Wa until his retirement in 2006.
In retirement, Dave has served on the board of directors for the East Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity, working specifically on selecting families to become Habitat home owners. In 2009, he was invited by the First Presbyterian Church of Port Townsend to establish the Presbyterian Counseling Center of Port Townsend, which he is doing presently on a part-time basis.
He is married to Geri who has had a career in nursing, and together they have four children, who live in Montana, Washington, Oregon and El Salvador. They have nine grandchildren.
