Pamela Powell is an ordained Presbyterian clergywoman (1983). She holds degrees from Miami University, Ohio; Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena,
CA: and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Pennsylvania. She has pastored churches in Los Angeles, Texas, Pennsylvania and San Diego. She has also served as a campus pastor at Texas Tech and maintained a private pastoral counseling practice.
Dr. Powell has been teaching in seminaries for the past eleven years.
She served on the faculty of Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in the Pittsburgh, PA area for six years. She was Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology and Dean of Students. The past few years, she has been teaching at Bethel Seminary, San Diego as a Faculty Associate for Pastoral Theology, and the past two years she served as Director of Student Life.
Pam is married to the Rev. Dr. John Powell, a PCUSA clergyman and pastor of Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church in San Diego. The Powells have three grown children, two sons and a daughter. One son is a partner in his own law firm in Los Angeles and one is a Presbyterian pastor in the Washington D.C. area. Their daughter is an Assistant Professor at Wheaton College and an ordained PCUSA Minister. All their children are married. The Powells have five grandchildren.
